There is the huge trunk of a tree about 12 feet from my back door. Usually there is a lot of activity in the back yard with a dog and kids around. She has been named Beauty, though this eagle is anything but. Part of Beauty’s beak was shot off several years ago, leaving her with a stump that is useless for hunting food. You’re only as old as you feel.
I hate that freakin’ saying. I’m 43, and I feel, well, 43, if not older. I don’t feel 40, or 35. 30 is out of the question. 25 is barely a memory. Last night about 9:45 I started celebrating the birth of my second grandchild. “Peyton” was due in April, but apparently he wasn’t quite willing to wait much longer. Naturally I’ve been anxious for his arrival, but I guess I’ve also been wondering what type of world he will live in when he’s a teen, a young adult, even when he’s my age.
