Why I hate politics
Every few years we deal with it, listen to it, talk about it, discuss it, fight over it. Try to weed out the good and bad of each candidate. Listen to the ads, debates, news articles, friends and family.
And every time, it’s the same old game.
Here is why I hate elections.
* The Duration. How long has this presidential campaign gone on? Too long. Too many people are sick of the whole thing by the time election day gets here. After over a year of hearing the same stuff, the last thing I want to do is get into an election booth and vote for someone that I probably don’t like by now.
* The Game. Politics, to me, is about one thing; sling enough mud at the other candidate to make yourself look better, do it long enough, and sweet talk the people. To me, it’s just a tactic not to show off your abilities, but to disgrace the other enough that people won’t trust them.
* The Candidates. It’s all about power. Nothing against any of them personally, but they play the game in quest of becoming the most powerful person on Earth. Sorry, but I get the feeling that many of them are never qualified enough to even consider running.
* The Money. Hundreds of millions. For each candidate. One will lose. I can’t help but think how wasteful this is. You have to be rich to get into the race, and able to keep raising more, knowing that it could all go down the drain. Really, there has to be a better system.
* The Lies. They all do it. If there’s something they did that is negative, they deny it. If there’s something the opponent did that is good, they discredit it. They never tell the whole truth if it can, in any way, reflect on themselves in a bad way. Sling the mud the other way, remember?
* The Lack of Responsibility. They often talk about honor, morals, doing right by the people. Sure. How many times do candidates stand up, man up, and ever say “I was wrong, I made a mistake, my actions were harmful, my party did not lead properly…”, etc? Never. No politician will ever admit to making mistakes. Neither will the parties. It is always someones elses’ fault when things go wrong. And they will always mislead us, the people, the ones they want to trust them, in the quest for office.
* The Acceptance. When it’s all over, winner and loser both will stand before a group of people and the cameras and announce how they respect the opponent they just spent the last year trashing, and say it was a good campaign. Yeah, sure thing. Then again, I guess it’s a good time to be politically correct.
Sorry, but for a country and leadership system that much of the world admires, I think it’s a sham.
I’m tired of it.
Just go away already.

AMEN!!!!!!! I too am sick to death of the politics! You never know who to believe because they all lie!
watching the debate now. this is and has been going on for so long. i won’t miss hearing about it myself.
how can you tell if a politician is lying?
their mouth is moving.
lol. later michael
I agree that, as long as their lips are moving, you probably aren’t getting the whole truth …. it’s really no wonder that only a fraction of eligible Americans actually vote in elections.
Boy I’m with you there. I just don’t understand why they are both pushing their same economics plan given all the changes happening. Could one of them please stand up and say we have to get to a balanced budget and to do so we wil have to do what every american has to do with their own household - either get a second job or cut expenses. For the government that means raise taxes and/or cut programs. Maybe it doesn’t work on the campaign trail but darn it that’s what we need.
You’re right. I’m already tired of the angst of trying to figure out which one to vote for - or, more realistically, who to vote against. There’s not much about either ticket that says “I am a leader” to me. And, it’s for all the reasons you mentioned. Nothing will change anyway, no matter who is in the White House - the president does not represent the people.
LOL!! I love this post! I so agree with you, “just go away already!”
