Wordpress upgrade …. I’m finally back

wallpaper-wordpress-iphone I really need to learn not to use the Wordpress automatic upgrade plug-in. This is the second time I have ran it, and the results were terrible.

After seeing the message in my admin area for the last week about upgrading to 2.6, I went ahead and ran the upgrade program. It went fine until the plug-in section. Then I started getting those nice, clear, pure white pages. No images, messages, words. Nothing. I tried to backtrack. More blank pages.

No matter what I did, there was absolutely nothing showing up.

So, after 4 hours last night and this morning of trying to manually upload the 2.6 files, checking this and checking that, I finally said “Fuck it”. Back to the old files from the back-up, and screw anything new for now.

Looks like I’m back.

Still, all of my image for my posts are gone, since the upgrade plug-in didn’t make a back up of those files. Why, I don’t know. I followed the upgrade instructions to the letter.
Anyway, I’m here. For now.

I’ve been looking at the notification and after hearing a few horror stories, I’m not looking forward to making the jump. I will at some point, but not looking forward to it.

I use the same plugin, and it’s always worked for me on different blogs with different hosts. One thing I always do is manually disable all plugins first. Maybe that will help?

Sorry to hear of your problems. I hope you get it fixed. :)
