Desmond Child honored …. and why music lovers should care.

Maria Vidal en los inicios del grupo Desmond Child & Ruge There aren’t too many people that can boast about a musical career the way Desmond Child can. If you had his background, you’d be quite happy, too. How about 70 top 40 songs for a start?

Desmond was recently inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Probably long overdue in many peoples opinions. I remember first hearing him in the early 80’s, after releasing 2 Desmond Child & Rouge albums. He was unique and downright talented as a songwriter, as it soon became obvious to some of the biggest stars in music.

Theres a good chance you don’t recognize his name, but his musical history, I’m sure, contains dozens of songs we grew up on, inspired us, and remain our favorites. Still don’t know him? Read the partial list of songs he has written and/or produced.

Aerosmith - “Heart’s Done Time” - “Dude (Looks Like a Lady)” - “Angel” - “What It Takes”

Clay Aiken - “Invisible”

Bon Jovi - “You Give Love a Bad Name” - “Livin’ on a Prayer” - “I’d Die For You” - “Bad Medicine” - “Born to Be My Baby”

Cher - “Emotional Fire” - “Does Anybody Really Fall In Love Anymore?” - “Just Like Jesse James”

Kelly Clarkson - “Before Your Love”

Alice Cooper - “Poison”

Joan Jett & the Blackhearts - “I Hate Myself For Loving You”

KISS - “I Was Made For Lovin’ You” - “I’ve Had Enough (Into the Fire)” - “Heaven’s on Fire”

Ricky Martin - “Livin’ la Vida Loca”

The list goes on and on. And I’m sure most of us are glad it does.

Huh? Thanks for the post. Honestly I had no idea who he was when I first saw your post, then I scrolled down and his top 40 songs read like a list essentials in any decent music collection. It’s amazing how some people can be so anonymous
